The City without Chair / 空凳

Who designed the city without a chair? Who leaves the abandoned chair in at open space?

Documenting the abandoned chairs in public areas gives us clues to whether a metropolis is well designed for human beings. Did the abandoned chairs appear first, or the desire of “sitting down” came first, so a chair was placed over there?

Sam Keung explores the characteristics of Hong Kong by filming abandoned chairs found in different districts. These chairs are not eye-catchy as we are so well adapted to their existence in our city. Why can people not pause for a moment? Is it because of the narrow streets? Or is it because people are busy? Or is it simply because of no chair in the city?
